Q: How does this step help to prevent credit card fraud?

​A: It is relatively easy for professional thieves and scammers to steal people's names, addresses, and card information.  However, it is much more difficult for them to gain ​access to your account and see your statement. By requiring this verification code, we can be confident that the person making the purchase is actually an authorized user or owner of the card.

Q: Why was my order flagged for review in the first place?

​A: Our credit card processor applies extremely strict filters to ensure that fraudulent orders don't slip through the cracks: A slight mismatch in billing information, a different ​billing and shipping address, an order placed from an IP address that doesn't match the address associated with the card, and even more. It is easy for a perfectly legitimate ​order to accidently trip one of these filters. While most orders are not actually fraud, we have to take every precaution, every time.
